The adjustable 'Half Check' Collar

This fully adjustable 'half-check' collar is entirely hand made from either my popular black, 'Dark Havanna' or 'Australian Nut' English bridle leather hides.
Having been hand cut from the hide, the circle chain is cast from solid brass and is secured to the body of the lead by a traditional saddler's stitch.
By hand stitching in this way with either a contrasting yellow or subtle black thread, using the centuries old stitching method of a saddler’s clam, an awl and two needles I obtain a stitch which is stronger than that made by machine.
Measuring either 3/4 of an inch or 1 inch in width, finished with a beveled edge which is dyed to compliment the colour of the collar body, a single edge crease which runs the entire length of the skin side of the leather gives that understated, professional look.
The half-check collar is adjustable in size by means of a small, solid 'hook stud' as opposed to the cumbersome buckle which often adorns this type of collar. This extremely secure stud, which is also used to secure a horse's reins to a bridle, gives a more simple and elegant appearance as it sits unobtrusively on the collar body.
